Mr. Benedict Nkululeko Xaba, Minister of Health of the Kingdom of Swaziland, will visit the Republic of China (Taiwan) with Dr. Simon M. Zwane, Acting Director of Health Services, and Mrs. Rejoice Nomathemba Nkambule, Deputy Director of Public Health, from June 20 to June 24, 2011.

Minister Xaba will call at the Department of Health, the National Health Research Institute, San-shia Public Health Center and New Taipei City Government, as well as visit the Taiwan Health Expo, the National Palace Museum and Taipei 101. Mr. Shen Ssu-tsun, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, will also host a dinner in the delegation’s honor.

This is Minister Xaba’s second trip to Taiwan. It will provide an opportunity for him to better understand the healthcare system in Taiwan and will strengthen the cordial and cooperative bilateral relations that exist between Taiwan and Swaziland.

Taiwan and Swaziland have cooperated closely on medical treatment over the years. In particular, the permanent medical team Taiwan has stationed at Mbabane Government Hospital since April 2008 has benefited the Swazi people significantly. Run by Taipei Medical University, the team holds regular clinics at the hospital and also visits rural areas to provide medical services there.(E)
